HOMELESSNESS
We have tent encampments all over the city. This is not only an issue of urban blight, but is also a health and safety issue. This does not reflect well on us when those outside our city come to visit. But did you know, an estimated 20% of homeless are veterans? People are more than eyesores. We can be compassionate and efficient, but firm. We have to do much better.
I will implement a comprehensive plan to dramatically reduce homelessness in Amarillo, which will address all of the issues that come with homelessness.
I will work with employers, entrepreneurs, employees and foundations to drastically reduce homelessness, hunger and poverty in Amarillo.
Within our diverse population, Amarillo has some of the most generous and kind people there are in all of the U.S. and I believe once divisions are bridged under my leadership, we will unite as a community to help reduce homelessness in Amarillo.
